THE BRITISH DRIVING SOCIETY

47th ANNUAL SHOW

at SMITHS LAWN, WINDSOR GREAT PARK

SUNDAY 19 JUNE 2011

By kind permission of HM The Queen the British Driving Society will be holding its Annual Show at Smiths Lawn, Windsor Great Park. For the second year our Company will be sponsoring the Vintage Vehicle Class at this the most prestigious show in the British Driving Society’s calendar. The Master accompanied by the Wardens and the Chairman of the Craft Committee presents the winner with an engraved Company Cup - which is retained by the Company - and also a framed certificate for permanent retention. Our class is timed for 1.00pm in the Sanders Watney Main Ring and around which reserved car parking places may be purchased.  Lunch can be either picnic or in the Marquee. Reserved car parking is £25/30 per car and then £15/20 per head for lunch in the marquee.

During the afternoon on the adjoining Guards Polo Ground will be two Polo matches. The first match is for the Mountbatten Trophy, which is usually presented by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.  The second match is regarded as the premier medium- goal polo tournament of the year with the winning team receiving the Al Habtoor Royal Windsor Cup and historically presented by HM The Queen.

At various times during the afternoon a Guards Band performs on the Polo Ground in front of the Royal Box and at the conclusion of the Driving Society Show approximately 50 carriages process in front of the Royal Box. Usually HM The Queen presents the winners with their rosettes.
